Procreate and PSD A4 & A5 Format Illustration Templates

When starting Illustration projects in Procreate I noticed a lack of accessible and affordable templates for Illustrators containing visual guides for safezones, margins, gutter & bleed.

Since Procreate does not contain a ruler tool I found a workaround to create approximate guides that are not 100 % perfect but are more than enough to do a solid job formatwise on your Illustration projects.

Although maybe not as necessary I still have added a Template pack for PSD as well.

Since A4 and A5 are two of the most common formats being worked with here in Germany I decided to provide these two first and wait if the need for different ones occur. Here you can download single sheets as well as double pages.

How to read the visual guideline:

„Bleed“: Outer line on the edge of the sheet that ensures a print that fills up to the edges.

“Margin“: Inner area next to the bleed. Space that might get cut off in the trimming process and should therefore not important parts of your illustration.

“Gutter“: Area around the fold of a book that might hide parts of your illustration and should therefore be treated similarly like your margin around the edges of the page.

“Safezone“: The space that is safe to put your illustration inside of without it being at risk of getting trimmed in the printing process or fold.

I have named the visual guidelines according to their function in the Procreate layers to make it easier for you to distinguish them later.
